Winner of the Worldwide IT Industry’s Highest Award　世界最高峰のＩＴ賞を受賞 On May 5, 2004, in Athens, Greece, Yokosuka City’s e-bidding system was awarded with the worldwide IT industry’s highest award: the WITSA (World Information Technology and Services Alliance) Global ICT Excellence Award. This great achievement marks Japan’s first ever award in the field of public services. Yokosuka City’s e-bidding system, Japan’s first, was implemented in 2001 and allows the entire tendering and bidding process to be conducted online. WITSA is a consortium of over 60 information technology industry associations from economies around the world. Once every two years, WITSA offers seven awards to outstanding communities or groups in various fields, such as Public Sector Excellence and Private Sector Excellence. 　2004年５月20日ギリシャのアテネで、横須賀市の電子入札システムがＩＴ(情報技術)分野で世界最高峰の賞とされる「世界情報サービス産業機構(ＷＩＴＳＡ)のＩＴ賞(IT Excellence Awards)を受賞しました。公共分野では日本初受賞の快挙です。 　横須賀市の電子入札システムは、日本で初めて、2001年度から実施しているもので、インターネットを通じて入札参加募集から開札、入札結果の公表までを行っています。 　ＷＩＴＳＡ(World Information Technology ＆ Services Alliance)は、世界53カ国の情報技術団体で組織。２年に１度投票及び審査で、公共分野や民間分野などで優れた実績をあげた７団体に「ＩＴ賞」を贈っています。 In 2003, Yokosuka City was placed in the world’s top seven intelligent communities.　(インテリジェント自治体2003年)で横須賀市が世界のトップ７に選ばれました Since 1999, the Intelligent Community Forum, a sub-organization of the World Teleport Association, has presented the Top Seven Intelligent Community Awards to municipalities that have achieved outstanding results from progressive activities in the information and economic sectors. Yokosuka City was recognized for its YRP project, promotion of e-government and the transparency and competitiveness of bids fostered by its e-bidding system. Other communities receiving awards were: Glasgow, Scotland; Spokane, Washington State, USA; Sunderland, England; Taipei, Taiwan; Victoria, Australia; and Western Valley, Canada. 　ワールド・テレポート・アソシエーション(世界テレポート連合)の内部組織である、インテリジェント・コミュニティ・フォーラム(ＩＣＦ)は、2003年度インテリジェント自治体、世界トップ７を発表しました。 　横須賀市はＹＲＰ計画の推進、e-Japan戦略に基づく電子自治体の推進及び電子入札によって入札の透明性や競合性を高めたことなどが評価され、グラスゴー市•Glasgow(英国•UK)、スポーケン市Spokane(米国ワシントン州)、サンダーランド市•Sunderland(英国•UK)、台北市(台湾)、ヴィクトリア州•Victoria State(オーストラリア)、ウエスターン・ヴァレー地区•Western Valley(カナダ)と共にトップ７に選出されました。 Top prize winner in the Nations in Bloom environmental excellence competition　花と緑の都市づくり国際コンクール(ネイションズ・イン・ブルーム(Nations in Bloom))で最優秀賞を受賞 The Nations in Bloom international competition is held each year by the International Federation of Park and Recreation Administration (IFPRA), which has its headquarters in the UK. 2000 saw the fifth annual competition, with 45 cities worldwide qualifying for preliminary selection, and 35 cities from 20 nations qualifying for the final judging. Winners are selected from five categories, separated according to population size. Yokosuka City was recognized for its various measures aimed at tackling environmental concerns, and its cooperative activities with citizens. 　この国際コンクールは、英国に本部を置く国際公園レクリエーション管理行政連合が毎年開催しており、2000年は第５回目を迎え世界45都市が予選に応募、最終審査会には20カ国35都市が選ばれ、人口規模ごとに５つのカテゴリーで競われました。 　横須賀市が行った「西海岸の景観の保全」「東海岸の景観に配慮した公園整備」「ISO14001認証取得による積極的な地球環境保全」などさまざまな環境問題への取り組み、市民協働による「鷹取川ゆめプランづくり」「花いっぱい運動」が高く評価され最優秀賞の受賞となりました。
