Discover Uraga, a town that played a major role in the opening of Japan to the outside world. Set in Uraga Dock and accompanied by a powerful performance by a taiko drummer living in Yokosuka, this short film reveals Uraga’s historic streets, rich nature, and many other charms waiting to be explored.
【Introduction to the Ensemble】
Konoha is a women's traditional Japanese percussion ensemble (wadaiko) whose three percussionists have each won international wadaiko competitions. The name of the ensemble is a tribute to Konohananosakuya-hime, the main deity of Mount Fuji and its shrine Sengen-taisha, whose name is said to be the origin of the word "sakura" (cherry blossom). Konoha uses the power and grace of its members to create first-class musical performances.
